Been using a modified but not sure if its best. Normally hunt small ponds and have closer shots 20-30yards. Going to hunt on the river next weekend. Shooting 3" kent fast steel. What is the best choke to use? Do i need a full or is modified good or what? TIA

That's for lead shot. Are you supposed to shoot steel with a full choke? I dont think so, but I could be wrong.

I shoot a modified the majority of the time but I keep an improved modified in my blind bag just incase the ducks are being stubborn and staying a little ways out. Just out of curiosity, what kind of gun are you shooting? I bought 2 boxes of kent 3" #3 fast steel and they keep hanging up in my SBE2. Idk what the deal is.

You should not use a full a choke with steel shot. steel is too hard to be constricted down that much like lead shot. It deforms the shot and it leaves the barrel all jacked up. IMO don't go over Mod with steel
