Or does he get fired mid-season? Chizik, I mean, Sumlin's stock has dropped rapidly since he got to College Station.

FIFY.

They can't put a defense together under Sumlin for some reason. JFF was able to outscore a majority of the defenses that were not coached by Chavis. Sumlin should have bolted after the 2012 campaign.

He would be owed a lot of money, but I guess TAMU has plenty of that. I see them doing well enough to keep him around next year.

0% chance he gets fired midseason.

As mad as the Rant Aggies are, the people with the actual money didn't even know A&M had a bad day today.

Matt Campbell from Toledo would be a good replacement coach for the Aggies when the Swagcopter crashes.

This is pretty true. I also think that they attribute some of the recruiting success and offensive success to Sumlin, not just JFF.

IMO he has at least 2 seasons left. This is especially true if he catches an Auburn or some other team sleeping. You have to consider how bad we were under Fran / Sherman before you get rid of Sumlin.

He hasn't done much with defense though. I personally think that his coaching tree doesn't have a lot of defensive connections or street cred. I wonder if that has given him issues with recruiting the right DC.

Hopefully we can throw Jackie Sherrill money at someone and turn this boat around.

You're forgetting what it takes to get a coach fired at A&M.

Jackie Sherrill got fired as a scapegoat for cheating allegations fed by the Texas grads in the enforcement committee including one Charles Wright.

R.C. Slocum survived losing to USL and going 6-6, losing 51-6, 37-0, and 24-0 in the season immediately following the Big 12 Championship, having a losing record to Texas Tech, and getting shut out 12-0 in Lubbock. It took a 6-6 season that included holding an opponent to 13 points and LOSING by 10, losing in 2OT to a 5 win Missouri team immediately following a win over #1 Oklahoma, the first loss to Oklahoma State in A&M's history (as well as the first loss to Missouri in A&M's history), blowing 2 late 3+ score leads to Texas Tech and Nebraska at home, and having a player die as a result of practice for Slocum to be fired.

Dennis Franchione survived the first loss to Baylor of any kind since 1984, losing 77-0 to Oklahoma (with 1:53 remaining in the 3rd Quarter), losing 42-14 to Iowa State at home with the worst pass defense in FBS, and having the two worst bowl losses in school history one after the other. It took a secret VIP newsletter in which he was selling personal information about his players for him to be fired.

Mike Sherman probably would have been the coach in 2012 if he had not publicly spoken out against the move to the SEC and if Justin Tucker misses that field goal.

Billy Kennedy is still the basketball coach after 3 mediocre to bad seasons.

Wait until after their bowl game against WVU, I think that's when things start heating up.

Correct. This statement further reiterates the intelligence of an Aggie, any Aggie.

No offense, but outside of 2012, his resume looks awfully similar to his predecessors.

Sherman's last two years:

2010 - 9-4 (tie for Big XII South Title)
2011 - 6-6

Sumlin
2012 - 11-2
2013 - 9-4
2014 - 7-5

So outside of his 1st year, he has done no better than his predecessor.

Franchione's last two years are identical to Sumlin's last two at 9-4 and 7-5.

Not even close...not...even close.

2006 Dennis Franchione:

-Beat Citadel in unimpressive fashion
-Beat ULM in impressive fashion
-Needed a goal-line stand to beat Army by 4
-Beat Louisiana Tech convincingly
-Lost to Texas Tech on the final drive
-Beat Missouri by running the ball down their throats
-Beat Kansas by 3 on the final drive
-Beat Oklahoma State by blocking a PAT to win in OT after a miracle 4th and 18 conversion set up the tying touchdown
-Beat Baylor by 10
-Lost to Oklahoma by kicking field goals down 4 points instead of going for it on 4th and 1
-Lost to Nebraska by poor playcalling at the end, blowing a 6 point lead in the final minute
-Somehow beat Texas
-WORST BOWL LOSS IN A&M HISTORY, LOSING 45-10 to California after leading 10-7

2013 Sumlin

-Beat Rice by 21
-Blew out SHSU
-Epic game against Alabama, lost by 7
-Blew out SMU
-Unimpressive win over Arkansas
-Last second FG to beat Ole Miss
-Epic game against Auburn came down to a bad call and a QB with a bad shoulder
-Blowout win over Vanderbilt
-10 point win over Mississippi State
-24 point loss in Baton Rouge
-7 point loss in Columbia
-Largest second half comeback in A&M history against Duke

Sumlin is the luckiest coach ever

Got to houston and had case Keenum who briles recruited.

Then got to a&m and had manziel who sherman recruited plus two top 3 pick lineman

2007 Franchione

-Beat Montana State
-Needed triple overtime to beat Fresno State after leading 19-0 at halftime
-Beat ULL
-Blowout loss to Miami in which we looked like a High School team...infamous quote of, "The preseason is over now"
-Convincing win over Baylor
-1 point win over Oklahoma State
-Blowout loss to Texas Tech (led 7-0, lost 35-7)
-Win over Nebraska in a game between two inept coaches
-Loss to Kansas at home requiring an epic comeback to keep from being shut out: The game was 19-0 Kansas mid-4th
-Blowout loss to Oklahoma
-Blowout loss to Missouri
-Win over Texas in which Franchione was basically gone

2014 Sumlin

-Blowout win at South Carolina
-Blowout win over Lamar
-Blowout win over Rice
-Blowout win over SMU
-Overcame a 14 point 4th quarter deficit over Arkansas
-Blown out by Mississippi State
-Gave Ole Miss 2 defensive scores
-59-0
-Shitty win over ULM
-Herp derp win over Auburn
-Defense failed against Missouri
-Offense and Defense and officials failed against LSU

I'm going to overlook the fact that you put 2009 after 2011 in this correction.

Sherman blew the following 2+ score second half leads.

2008 Arkansas State: Led 14-3, lost 18-14
2009 Colorado: Led 34-21 in the 4th, lost 35-34
2010 Oklahoma State: Led 21-7 at halftime, lost 38-35
2011 Oklahoma State: Led 20-3 at halftime, lost 30-29
2011 Arkansas: Led 35-17 at halftime, lost 42-38
2011 Missouri: Led 28-17 in the 4th, lost 38-31 in overtime
2011 Kansas State: Led by 10 with 2 minutes left. Lost in 4OT
2011 Texas: Led 16-7 at halftime and 25-24 with 1 minute left. You know the rest.

He just signed a contract and I think he is owed the balance if he is fired. It's allegedly in the contract.

Wonder what A&M's record would look like had Evans not been there to bail out Manzeil every time he threw up a prayer.

Here are the only games in which Evans' stats made a significant difference:

2013 Alabama - 7 catches, 279 yards, 1 TD
2013 Arkansas - 2 catches, 116 yards, 2 TD
2013 Auburn - 11 catches, 287 yards, 4 TD

4 of those penalties were personal fouls
2 were false starts
