I am very interested in your opinion. Seriously. I, like many others, would like to believe that Cuba could become much better economically and in its treatment of their people.

How do you see this occurring? Can we help them make this happen? Is Castro's daughter likely to take over?

Castro(s) has had Billions put away and has had all of the opportunities it needed to help its people.

Instead, they have chosen to stash away BILLIONS and to DONATE MILLIONS and Millions to countries who believe in their cause while Cuba's citizens were starving.
So, no, this move is not going to change anything, it will actually give them more staying power. Castro(s) will allow what they will perceive as a benefit to them...
if it also benefits Cuba, then OK.
BUT their welfare comes first.

As one can see in his daughter's attitude, there is a strong and underlying feeling of "THE US IS NOT GOING TO DICTATE TO US ANYTHING"

Frankly, that was the attitude that cemented the relationship between Castro and the Soviets.

Castro;s daughter will not likely take over.

Fidel has passed power to his brother Raul, but Fidel still pulls all the strings.

There is no way to explain this here.

I do not know if a lot exists in English, but in Spanish there are great interviews on YouTube by very prominent former government officials.
