He's no more than 3 years from retirement, and he's basically said he's done with the NFL.

Pete Carroll coached New England for 3 years and made the playoffs twice, won a division title, and didn't have a losing season

What a failure

He hasn't won in the NFL. Why go after him?

He and, more importantly, Miss Terry aren't interested in returning to the NFL. Besides, he'll probably ride into the sunset within 5 years.

No NFL or college team wants to hire a coach with such a short shelf life unless they are super duper Bill Parcells desperate. Pete Carroll is the same age, but he's wired different.

So please don't take the call from Jerry Jones' ghost 2 years into retirement Nick

Because on an even playing field Saban is not a special coach as proven during his time in the NFL.

Saban can't intimidate professional athletes.

Honestly, why would they? He's not innovative, he simply runs a system. he doesn't bring anything to the pro game they don't already have. Scheme-wise, all he does is run an older, solid 4-3 defense that relies on superior talent; he has no offensive contributions and a tendency to be conservative.

Saban will never go back to the NFL. Besides the losing, he couldn't stand that the NFL media wouldn't kiss his arse, unlike ESPN and all of the college media.

Saban cannot get the total control of a team that he requires in the NFL.

Difference is Saban cannot hand pick the players on an NFL team. Draft, free agency and salary cap are more difficult to control that recruiting 25 of your chosen players every year.

Nicky is not going back to the NFL.

There is a higher chance that Bama wins the first Playoff and he then immediately retires from coaching to begin his stint as Lee's replacement on College Gameday, than there is of him going back to the NFL.

While saban is not an NFL guy and not going back, I don't view him as a failure there. They were decently competitive and his medical staff gave him advice that kept them from taking the next step . He wasn't fired, he quit.
