This is one of a few reasons I went from being a 100% Firefox user to a 99.9% Chrome user in the past 12 months. There are still a few things in Chrome that piss me off because they don't run quite right, but they are mostly related to Sharepoint and Deltek.

firefox and flash seem to be at war with each other. I've had to uninstall and reinstall both multiple times.
It works for a while, then does it again.

I finally got it to work, but not using the FF updater. Went to the website and had to agree to let it run multiple times, and now it works

Firefox rules. To update Flash, google /test flash/ and go to the first Adobe hit. Then if your version is out of date, google /get flash/. Download the updater (skipping the McAfee crap), close Firefox, and run it. Then go to back to /test flash/ to verify it worked. I've been doing this for years, and it's never failed. I blame Adobe for making it so cumbersome a process.

I still have issues with Shockwave and Chrome.

About to make the switch and go strictly Firefox.

I ran into this recently for all my users after I updated FF for everyone. I ended up having to turn off the plugin auto update settings. Type about:config in the address bar, and then set extensions.update.enabled and extensions.blocklist.enabled to false.

If it's for an AD user base, you can roll out a cfg file to each user with a group policy.

What is the problem? I use FF all the time to access some gaming sites that use Flash and have never had an issue. I'm running Windows 7 though, is this an 8.1 problem?

after a Firefox update a couple weeks back I keep getting messages that flash is a security risk so it's been disabled but clicking through the update flash link does nothing. Still says it's not secure.

I can work around it on individual sites by telling it to run anyway but it's a huge nuisance and I can't believe it's such africking hassle all of a sudden for something that has always worked before.

This reeks of some type of pissing contest between Firefox and adobe.

See if this makes you feel better.

Kinda long but worth the read.

I've been having issues with the plug-in - no question. Several will be running in processes - and the update made it only a little better. Something with the most recent change to flash, IMHO, but Firefox updates have gotten fairly frequent, of late, and that's usually not a good sign - some fundamental problem they're having to patch over and over.

And I'm an early adopter - I think I was using Firefox at version 0.5 or 0.6 - never seen it as buggy as hit has been with flash the past couple of years, really.
