The entire idea is too valuable a trump card for people who feel they are victims, and a lever for those that depend on their support for power.

Yes - Even natural biases for or against a particular group of people will always be exaggerated for political gain, adding fuel to the fire.

As I have posted previously, the infant babies born today will grow old and have then-current-event conversations with their great-grandchildren about the problem of racial relations in the USA.
Perhaps in 150 years, these issues will die, for the USA.

In terms of racism, the US is probably near the top in terms of racial equality so lets all chill a little bit. The key is stopping people from using the illusion of racism to influence the masses.
Don't believe we are ahead of most parts of the world? Try being black in Japan or China. Or a gringo in south America, western Africa, or the middle east.
With a country of almost 350 million people from every nook and cranny of this planet, we are doing pretty well.
