I don't know Mule Train
Just found an obit. Mule Train died in Pineville in 2005.
Cornbread's boy played at Nicholls this year. STA class of '14.
Anyone remember a drummer named Keith M? His dad Sonny owned the old Cottage Inn.
Also, the corner of Airline and 621 had an old auto parts store. The owner had 5 hot daughters. He was a good old guy.

Was it Ben Sheets?

Now Ascension Parish is developed and it just saddens me to no end.
This. It used to be such a wild place, filled with great people and the great outdoors. It was a simpler place in a simpler time for simpler people. Lots of wide-open spaces, fertile fields, and wooded-wilderness...no longer. Sometimes, it feels like the last vestage of "pre-storm" Ascension (and really pre-BR white flight) is the swamp land around Sevario Canal back towards the pumping station. The wild has been tamed, the open spaces on the map filled in, the crops burned with D.R. Horton tombstones marking their graves, the lonely stretches of highway replaced by traffic and strip malls, and I can feel the concrete slowly creeping, Please take me and mine before it comes.

Yes, this is quite sad.

Your mother is a saint. She taught me catechism.
I find it awesome that last I heard, months ago, she doesn't have a microwave.
I joined the Knights with your father. Church is not the same without him being an usher. It seemed like he was always there when I would find time to go.
Yep. Shes been through a lot the past 2 years. Now my grandmother (her mom) is dying of cancer/dementia and may not make it another week.
As for the microwave, she used to reheat leftovers either in the oven or on stove. Frozen pizza is much better reheated in oven in some foil.

My spot is already bought. I only left the parish for 2 years. Army made me. I'll die here and my body will turn to dust here.

I remember shooting Hank's pops .45 into the Hobbit House before finding a switchblade on the floor.

I'd say 100% he joins the thread...
Now let's go find some dried out Christmas trees and light them on fire with jumping jacks.

This thread would not be complete without mentioning Doug the Walker and Droop. Both are Ascension Parish icons. Droop still pops up here and there. Haven't seen Doug in well over a decade. He walked forever and then went off like a demon on that ten speed. Used to see him hauling arse on Airline by old Woman's Hospital.

Little known Gonzales fact. There is a second, younger, drunker and less famous Droop and he was usually a much bigger trainwreck than the bearded vagrant.

They were 6in bazooka's you son of a bitch.
And Crazy Ralph would get so pissed at me when I kept bringing them back every Friday for a month because I kept blowing them out from playing Sally over and over in the EA parking lot.
