Shorting Sony?
Any US Cigar companies that will take a hit from the Cuban imports?
Any Cuban cigar companies that are public?

Any other ideas?

Land is still controlled by a communist government. Not sure if you even can buy land but if you could it's extremely risky..

I have a friend who has inherited 7k acres of sugar cane farm land over there and they're expecting the gov to piece it up and sell it out from under them.

Read your link and still do not know what it holds. That was a bash on CEF's by an ETF's trade rag. I would not necessarily recomend CUBA but it is the only exposure to that market I am aware of. And that is what the OP asked for, not links to a trade rag.

I think it says 50% of that fund's holdings are Carnival (the cruiseline) and Chiquita (the banana).

Seems to me like the CUBA ETf is allocated with companies that may benefit from free trade with Cuba. Nothing directly related to Cuba.

Yeah I saw those two but who knows what else is involved or if the author is legit. I would have to see a much more comlete list of holdings from somthing a bit more reliable than that piece. Chart for CUBA looks mighty flat up until the pre announcement run up. This one is not for me.

Edit to add: Shorting US sugarcompanies

not correct, largest holdings

Copa Holdings SA A 8.47%
MasTec, Inc. $6.29%
Coca-Cola Femsa SAB ADR $6.04%
Royal Caribbean Cruises, Ltd. $5.35%
Seaboard Corporation $1.69M 5.18%
Lennar Corporation $1.57M 4.81%
Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd 4.02%
Banco Latinoamericano de Exportaciones 3.97%
Carnival Corporation 3.81%
Consolidated Water Company, Ltd. 3.72%
America Movil SAB de CV ADR L 3.45%

But it is Caribbean basin focused, not Cuba

"To achieve long-term capital appreciation, investing primarily in equity and equity-linked securities in the Caribbean Basin countries, which consist of Cuba, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, the Bahamas, the Dominican Republic, Barbados, Aruba, Haiti, the Netherlands Antilles, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, Belize, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia and Venezuela. The Fund invests at least 80% of its total assets in a broad range of securities of issuers including U.S. based companies, whose securities are traded principally on a stock exchange in a Caribbean Basin Country; or have at least 50% of the value of their assets in a Caribbean Basin Country; or that derive at least 50% of their total revenue from operations in a Caribbean Basin Country"

It is now trading at a large premium to net asset value and had traded at a large discount most of the year. 7% premium now, 11% discount last 52 weeks

while it's not a pure cuba play, it's holdings would benefit as Cuba is set from from imperialist American shackles

Viva La Revolucion !
