Posted by tiger2012 it almost seems like that car wanted to get hit, casually rolling into oncoming traffic.
It was bad driving and 100% the driver of that car's fault but I wonder if the OP's trick obstructed their view. The victim car seemed surprised as well.

That's really neat. Honestly everyone should have one. I kinda wish I did.

This is great advertising for a dash camera. I'm debating getting one now.

The guy pulling out was an elderly man that was looking the other way the entire time. I don't think the other car had slowed at all.

My company is considering GPSs with built in dash cams for our trucks.

In almost 10 years of driving I've been hit twice, both minor. One time I was bumped in the back and the driver fled the scene. If I had a dashcam, it would have captured the license plate #, but since I hadn't, the police could do nothing about it. The second time, someone pulled out too far into traffic and then reversed into me. There was no damage, but I could only imagine that if he wanted to, he could have said it was my fault easily since he reversed into me.
$60 + the price of an SD card is pocket change when you think about how much liability this could save you from.

id bet that whoever was driving the vehicle that was on the side of you was playing on the phone. absolutely no way that they should not have seen that car pulling out. There was plenty of time for them to react and they didnt even slow down.

I've been thinking about getting one but I want the one with GPS that shows your speed and direction of travel.
I witnessed an accident a few weeks ago on airline near Gramercy that would have been a cool video. A Savage tanker truck side swiped an SUV and spun out and came within 2 ft of coming into my lane by looking at the track marks. Kind of surreal when I stopped to check on them and saw how close we all were to having a really bad night.

Has anyone found a concealable one? You don't want a dashcam visible if you are, in fact, at fault.

So does the dash cam automatically overwrite old footage on the card or do you have to remember to empty it?

I don't understand why you feel the need to snitch someone out, baw.

quote:good question. The answer is yes for mine. Pretty sure they all overwrite from the end to the beginning. In other words they hold about 2 days worth of video on a 16 gig SD card.I got mine plus a 16 gig card for around $25. Has night mode, drop down screen and the video quality is good enough for me.
