Something along these lines. Grid gets knocked out for a long period of time and people freak.

I didn't really care that much about MJ's death. It wasn't a remember where I was when I heard it thing at least. Osama Bin Laden getting capped was a bigger deal imo.

Are you fricking kidding?

He was the most powerful man in the free world, during a potential nuclear war, was the most popular president maybe ever, etc.

He and Jackie were not just the most popular President and First Lady during one of the most critical international peace keeping periods of American History, the Kennedy's were American royalty. JFK and Jackie were movie stars, royalty, politicians, sex symbols, and powerful world leaders combined into one.

This is such a dumb post.

I'm 26.

My parents can tell you what they were wearing when JFK was killed. They can tell you what day of the week it was and what exactly they were doing.

That assassination rocked the world. It was at the height of the Cold War.

Also, the assassination of any United States President would rock the world. He is the most powerful person in the world.

You are probably right. I included it because the person I responded to mentioned it.

Also, I am a history nerd and to hear someone be that ignorant about American and World History makes me sad.

It was the assassination of the POTUS (during the Cold War). That's a pretty big deal, around the globe.

I would suspect it made the news in the USSR along with every other country on the planet.

Edit. Nice troll. Got me for a few mins.

this is anecdotal and meaningless but i remember where i was when i heard about Bin Laden and i have no clue about what i was doing when i heard about MJ.

i dont think either qualify for this thread.

I couldn't tell you where I was at for Princess Di or Michael Jackson.

I do recall and agreed with the others. I also recall where I was when I heard that Magic Johnson had AIDS/HIV/whatever, for some reason.

Completely wrong. The US was as strong at that time as it ever was in the post Cold War world. The Cuban Missile Crisis had just occurred. The Cold War was probably at it's coldest at that time. Many thought it was a Soviet backed assassination because of Oswald's association with Cubans and their close alliance with the Soviet Union. It had major repercussions around the world.

This is inevitable. Our economy is based on counterfeit money, essentially. It's a big shell game waiting to completely crash.

If we could predict it, it would not be a "remember where you were" type of event. It would have to be incredibly shocking and unexpected. So something that is highly unlikely to ever happen, and therefore shock us into memorizing every detail of the moment, is an Independence Day scenario where an alien spaceship shows up and then blows up New York.
