So is there anything in the top 5 that isnt independent? Or is the list the right amount of indie? One hand its "too hipster" and the other "they arent independent enough"

Well, that wasn't my argument, but we'll just let it slide. I explicitly stated I support putting things I've never heard of on your top 50 list, as its a good way to discover music. I criticized them for sucking too much up to the mainstream music because they are a bunch of cowards, afraid to actually support the music they genuinely like.

And there's nothing I have less patience for than "ironically liking" something. I mean, frick you. At least own it, you pathetic coward. I assure you the Jersey Shore cast did not ironically count their money. If you watched that stupid, brainless crap you are supporting stupid, brainless crap, even if you had on a pair of horn rimmed glasses. Ironically liking something is actually liking something, only you lack the courage to tell your friends that you like something they disapprove of. At least own your own opinions, especially if you write for a pop culture website.

Man, I have nothing but contempt for the whiny, weak-willed shite stains who write for Pitchfork. What a soulless bunch of ninnies. The music they tend to champion is as weak and insubstantial as their writing staff. They are the staff that will only tolerate rock that decidedly does not rock.

are there any music critics that really do a good job? its all bandwagonery to me. I like pitchfork for one reason, they highlight what they think is the best new music. straight up. I often don't agree but its easy to take a look at what they think is the best and check it out.

I would say they bat about 40% which is actually higher than most best of lists for me.

Been listening to RTJ2 since yesterday. No way can I argue with the #1 ranking. No weak tracks at all.

Thats how i feel. Even though they dont rank what i like higher, i still like to read it because they usually cover most if not all hipster new releases
