My dad has 3 samsung smart TVs and a long time ago I gave him my Netflix account. Unfortunately all that time he had the lowest Cox internet speed and his wireless router is in the "basement" that he uses as an office. He has since upgraded his Cox speed and I have offered to run Cat 5 from the office to the 3 TVs upstairs.

But back to the question:

I am trying to convince him that he does NOT need a Roku because his Sumsungs all have access to Netflix. He is not going to be trying to access anything else that I can think of. How do I convince him that he is wasting his money on a Roku? Or am I totally wrong?

I have a Chromecast connected to my smart TV because navigation and content access is a thousand times faster and easier on the Chromecast since I can use my phone or PC. I don't have experience with the Roku, but it seems like he's essentially swapping out a remote control interface with another remote control interface. I'm sure content access is still much faster on the Roku since it has more powerful dedicated hardware, but if his purpose is the typical Youtube/Netflix/HBO Go access, then no, he doesn't exactly need a Roku.

Just for netflix, he doesn't need a roku ,but the navigation and internet connectivity would probably be a lot better with one . jmo
