Hodson, IMO, had a better career. JR had a lights out junior campaign. I though he was hit or miss prior to 2006. Of course, I was neve the biggest fan of Russell. Gimmie Rohan over him.

Career-wise I give Hodson, the 3-time All SEC QB, the nod. Two SEC titles and in the non-title year of '87, only an injury that kept him out of what would be the only loss that season, prevented that team from competing for the national title. However I must say that no Tiger QB ever put together a better finish than Russell. His QB rating for his final 7 games was through the roof, culminating in a huge blowout of ND in the Sugar Bowl and vaulting him into the number one draft pick. Too bad his personal work habits wilted after he made his millions.

Hodson hands down. Didnt have the physical tools JR had,but was much smarter as a qb.

No doubt it was Hodson. He did not have NFL tools, but he was a cerebral college QB. The coaches trusted him, and ran the offense through him.

Our coaches never really trusted JR.

Davis was to Hodson as Samardjia was to Quinn

Hodson was more likely throughout the first 3 quarters to have possession advancing drives. Russell was more likely in the 4th quarter to have possession advancing and game winning drives. However, Hodson while Hodson was not as good at possession advancing drives in the 4th quarter, he was certainly no slouch in this area. All things considered, Hodson was definitely the more complete QB.

Hudson - dependable, could make the occasional big play, didn't hurt you.

this. People will argue that JR had all the yards, etc....and he did...however when the pressure was on, he didn't come through. The Auburn game still haunts me how all that talent.......Hodson was a cool customer...didn't have the weapons that JR had and certainly not the arm strength....but I'll take TH all day long over JR.

except of course his two big games right....Florida and especially Auburn. I don't buy this. JR had MUCH more talent that TH had to work with....although davis was a great possession receiver.

Why is the claim that we would have won the 2006 NC with Hodson laughable? I would take Hodson any day over Bama Boy Russell.
