Hell, how many 300lb hogs are there in this world. The OB has seen over one billion of them killed.
Great example btw.
I have legitimately killed one. ONE out of the hundreds I have slaughtered.
I have seen two others personally post mortem.
I physically laugh at people who tell me they saw 400 lb hogs that they didn't get a shot on.
That being said every person handling a firearm should always keep the muzzle in a safe direction and only put a finger on the trigger when you intend on killing a specific thing.
I agree there is no reason to mistake a human for a buck unless they are dressed as and impersonating a deer. If you aren't sure keep your damn finger off the trigger. Keeping the muzzle in a safe direction requires knowing to the best of your ability what is in that direction and that there is a safe reasonable "stop" behind your target for the firearm you are using. 100 acres of private land hardwoods where no one is supposed to be and no one is visible is a safe reasonable stop.

Alxtigr, think what you like. But as states, I'm at a table eating lunch with 2 criminal defense attorneys in my family who are laughing at your attempt to sound legit. You are wrong. Sorry.

There are statutes and they are getting tighter by the day.

You are liable for everything you do and it's consequences

The "10 rules of gun safety" is widely available. As a father of young children, I refer to them often. I treat those rules as absolute firm S.O.P.
Some of you jackwagons need to stop posting and read those rules right now.

By the way, are you a paramedic?

No, not that mother-scratcher.

I think old Gordan left the thread.

I must have just missed it. I may have been the only one to get the reference, but I would have responded.

Just dropping in to say this is a redundant term and is stupid.

How so? Should I have said "non-rimfire?"

You really should not comment on this stuff. You have no idea what you are talking about.
How is this incorrect? You are responsible for your bullet once it leaves the muzzle. If you shoot at a deer, but kill a kid riding his bike, you're liable, criminally and civilly.

Yeah, I don't think posting your intent to murder, on the internet, is the smartest thing.
Where do I say I would murder someone?

quote:That's cute saying in gun culture and all, but it legally meaningless. In your example, there would be virtually no chance for either criminal or civil responsibility. There is no strict liability for gun use. It would be a negligence analysis and each case decided on its own facts. Foreseeability would be an important factor. Did the hunter set up knowing it was likely that his bullet shot at a deer would travel to an area with human traffic? These things are not as cut and dried as some of you would like them to be.
