By major mental illness, I don't mean the normal "all women are crazy" (they are) b.s. I mean seeing things, paranoia, OCD, hoarding, etc.

I think in most cases I would take physical illness.

Really depends on the physical illness. Are we talking someone who needs to be bathed, dressed, taken to the bathroom?

Obviously depends on the major illness.

Moderate OCD would be better than plenty of physical things, as would mild hoarding.

I've had a SO with major depression issues. After you talk someone out of suicide, it changes you inside.

It really depends on what the illnesses are.

I'd still take this over anything that changed my wife's mental state.

Physical.

I've dealt with mental illness in a relationship before. No way in hell do I wish that burden on anyone.

How is that a troll? Why would I want to spend the rest of my life with some chick that's a vegetable or a cripple? Yeah, no thanks

Physical illness in a nanosecond.

Mental illness is unpredictable on a daily basis. It is like a warzone. Never know when the enemy is coming.

Everyone is alpha before you get a little older and life starts taking chinks out of you with every passing year. You start losing some of that arrogance. Good luck to you.

An SO with a major mental illness is relentless - the only break you get is when she is in the hospital.
