You're invited to a family or friend's christmas party. Lets assume they say don't bring anything, what do you bring them? Are you bringing something for party or something for them as a thank you. I don't think they are big wine drinkers either.

Doesn't matter if they aren't big wine drinkers... It's a party. Bring a bottle of wine.

Bring one of those Velveeta cheese packets.

When I host a party and I tell people to not bring anything, I really mean not to bring anything and I hate it when they still bring stuff.
So I probably wouldn't bring anything.

So. I was reading an e-mail I got from Fresh Market the other day, and their holiday tip was about what to bring to a holiday party, and they suggested a bottle of wine and .. a Rosemary Topiary.
I couldn't help but think that was the most random party tip I'd ever heard. I guess it would be a nice gesture, but it was so random to me.

If it's family or friends I bring wine. Anytime I'm invited somewhere I've never been, I bring a pineapple. Everyone loves pineapple, it's the traditional fruit for "welcome" and always sparks great conversation.

That had some valid points. Smells good, looks good, and is useful in the kitchen..
As for OP: Depends on who is putting on the party. A close family member like my parents or my grandmother, I just bring what I'm going to drink and any dish I've volunteered to make.
For someone I don't know as well, I'll bring more than what I plan to drink so I can leave it behind for the hosts or add it to the "bar" setup. Ex: I'll bring a few bottles of wine and leave them near the wine glasses that are out, so everyone can drink them.
