The Jags have had a top 10 pick every year since 2008. Here are their selections:

Derrick Harvey, Eugene Monroe, Tyson Alualu, Blaine Gabbert, Justin Blackmon, Luke Joeckel, and Blake Bortles.

Justin Blackmon could have been a star if he didn't have a drug/alcohol problem

Is Blackmon done for good? I know he has a bunch of off the field problems but he is still very young and full of talent

He should be reinstated for 2015. But the guy will have been out-of-football for a year. He's been in rehab, which isn't exactly Athlete's First.

Is Bortles bad or is he just surrounded by absolute horseshite talent?

I feel like he would've been successful with a good team sitting behind a veteran for a few years.

Blackmon could be good, but he's a head case.

ETA:

Their OL sucks, their RBs suck, their WRs are ok, their defense sucks. Its got to be tough to play well there as a rookie. Bortles can make all the throws, he's a very good athlete, and seems like an intelligent guy in interviews.

Bortles can still be good.

But yeah... their drafting has been horrendous.

Could this be a Raiders type of situation where the talent is ruined/wasted by the organization moreso than the organization drafted shitty talent?

Blaine Gabbert was a bad pick though

Eugene Monroe

He's a good offensive tackle. The only reason he isn't there is because I assume he told the Jags there was no way he was resigning with them. Then they panicked and traded him for 4th and 5th round picks.

quote:

Ravens re-signed LT Eugene Monroe to a five-year, $37.5 million deal.

The deal includes $19 million guaranteed. It's less than Branden Albert got from the Dolphins (five years, $46M with $25M guaranteed) and Rodger Saffold landed with the Raiders (five years, $42.5M with $21M guaranteed). In other words, GM Ozzie Newsome has done it again. Monroe was our No. 3 free agent available at any position, behind only Jimmy Graham and Greg Hardy -- who were franchise tagged. Monroe has been a top-10 tackle in Pro Football Focus' rankings in three straight years.

Speaks to those draft picks .

In Bruce Feldman's book the QB he talks about one metric that is showing to hold true for projecting successful NFL qbs. In college, their completion percentage on 3rd down does not suffer a massive drop off from 1st and 2nd down. Bortles did have a big drop off. We'll see. He's regressed, badly, and until last week Robinson was at least a threat to run the ball.

They should have franchised and figured it out. Just speaks to their horrendous evaluation and front office operations.

Any time you can trade a good LT who has never missed a game for a 4th and 5th rounder, you gotta do it.

Without looking up their picks, I would guess the Raiders are up there as well. I think Bortles will be a good QB, and Justin Blackmon could've/should've been a star.

Just goes to show: It doesn't matter how big your pick is; it's what you do with it that counts.

They didn't have 1st rounders in 2011 and 2012 or they absolutely would have made it on here.

I think their defense is getting better, and they haven't been gettin blown out. Denard showed flashes of being a good RB this year but got hurt. Really their main problem is O-line.

The fact that he was drafted high just shows that any schmuck off the street could be an NFL scout or GM if they lucked into it.

Blaine Gabbert,

This didn't hurt real bad, because he was on the new rookie contract, so they could afford to get rid of him after 2 years.

Where as, Rams were last to be fricked by old system and are paying Sam Bradford 13++Mil. And cutting him after year 2 is cap hell for a while
