I love football - college and pro. I could not care less about any other sport. Why would me not having a clue who Andrew Wiggins is mean I don't like any sports at all? That's just silly. I don't know a single current hockey player or a single soccer player.

Yeah. I posted an article earlier in the thread. At one point, he had about as many air balls as makes during late game situations in the playoffs. What was probably most problematic was during some stretch of games he had 1 assist to 54 shot attempts, and he shot 31% in late game situations (last 24 seconds of games) through 2011.

wiggins has been very highly touted as the next LeBron type player and is extremely well known in the sports arena.
I don't have cable, much less ESPN. Not one of my friends gives two shits about the NBA and know I don't care in any case so don't talk to me about it.
There are very well known authors in the fantasy genre that you probably have never heard of. Or well known fund managers in the finance industry that every single one of my colleagues is well aware of but you would likely never have heard of.
We all think our little corner of life/interests is much wider than it is. I guarantee you most of my friends and family have never heard of Andrew Wiggins.
I don't have cable, much less ESPN. Not one of my friends gives two shits about the NBA and know I don't care in any case so don't talk to me about it.

I would imagine that individuals posting on topic-specific message boards would generally know the popular individuals in that topic-area, let alone if that area is extremely popular.

Right? I don't have 5000 posts on a literature or finance message board. Not even close to a fair comparison. And your friends/family not liking sports is not relevant either.
