OT Docs, concern for my child? - Updated

Aside from making a doctor's appointment, which we will - this is more for peace of mind | cause for concern - in the interim.
Last night, my 6 year old had blood in her stool. She notified us and from we gather, she didn't eat anything with red food coloring.
I've searched WebMD and didn't come away with what I believe is a clear "diagnosis" of problem. She said she didn't strain when using the bathroom. We told her the next time she uses the bathroom to let us know what she sees or come get us if we're available.
I've had this issue in the past, got myself checked and was given a clear bill of health, but with so many children that I am aware of within my circle that have not been as fortunate to receive good news, I am concerned.
Thoughts?

Hemmoroid maybe?
Could be, I didn't check, but I would think that young children wouldn't be as susceptible to them?

We get kids with blood in their stool all the time at work. It could be several things really so she will have to see her pediatrician and they can run tests.

I agree and realize that it is very hard to diagnose the true cause without blood work.

What was the color of the blood?
Fresh/bright red blood is usually not a big deal, usually it can indicate a hemorrhoid or something minor near the colon.
Dark blood that doesn't look fresh usually means it's something internal and more serious.

Good luck, I realize this has to be very stressful, esp since it's your 6 year old.

It was a "dull" color or faded red. Not bright that I have personally experienced before.

It is. Very.
We have an appointment tomorrow morning with her pediatrician.
Nurse, what type of test(s) should I ask for?

without blood work.
And stool studies as well. That is gonna mess with your daughter a lil at that age. She is gonna be grossed out. "Why do they want my poop?!!!!"

I envision this requiring us (parents) collecting stool samples while not at the doctor's office, right?
Unless she can poop on demand? I know she can certainly toot on demand.

I'd let your pediatrician decide that really.

Fair enough. Appointment has been made and hopefully peace of mind to follow.

Update. Went to the doctor the following morning after originally post. Didn't see her regular pediatrician. Doctor did not seem too concerned as she attributed it to what she ate.
Told me to come back if she bleeds again and starts cramping.
Unfortunately, this has happened twice since first doctor's visit. Now seeing her primary pediatrician and we are getting X-Rays and stool samples.
Lost it when I heard the big C word this morning as something we need to look into.
I am a wreck.

Man, they're gonna mention cancer as one of a whole list of things that it could be. I'm not saying not to take it seriously, just that they need to mention it, not that they think that's what it is.
Be brave for your little girl, and pray if that's something you believe in doing.

I hope everything turns out ok. Good luck obtaining those stool samples
Keep us updated though. Hopefully it's nothing serious.
