He's been having some trouble with his laptop lately. Thinking about just getting him a tablet this time around. He mainly uses it for the following:

-downloading/listening to music
-watching YouTube clips
-Skyping with friends
-video game capturing and editing
-occasional school work/papers

1. I'm assuming an iPad can handle all of this with no problem, yes?

2. What kind of iPad does the board recommend? We're looking at an iPad mini right now.

3. Do we need to purchase it from our cellular service provider, or is it ok to just go ahead and order off Amazon?

TIA

It'll work for everything but the video games

Seems like anything more than a short email would be a PITA to type on the IPad

Figured we could eventually pop for a keyboard peripheral down the road.

Yeah but what is he going to playing the games on? What games does he play? Ipad is limited to games in the App Store.

He uses a device to capture gameplay from his Xbox360, which he's been editing on his laptop. He then uploads the video to YouTube.

Depending on the software and hardware that has been pushing the editing on his laptop, it could end up being a huge pain in the arse on an iPad.

Nevermind. Apparently Elgato doesn't support iPads.
