The G19 was my first pistol purchase As well. Mine is the Gen 3 tho. I use the rope barrel cleaner on mine with the brass cleaning thingies on kt. Works great. Do not over oil the gun
Will cause problems. Never drip oil onto any parts. Oil down a good gun cleaning rag and wipe down only!

If you havent bought it yet, go with the Larry Vickers signature from Lipseys. It uses the better RTF2 frame and has his signature sites. Also has different mag base plates and such. If I were to purchase a glock, that is what I would get.

EDIT: Here it is

I am really looking forward to it. I've been itching to get it for a while. Best price I've seen is $550 new. but after that day it changed to $580.

Also, how often do you use the back straps?

The Gen 4 comes with three extra backstraps for the back of the grip. It is to adjust for the size of your hand and they have different textures. You can easily change them out by pushing out the pin in the grip.

It all depends on the size of your hand. If you have a large hand, I would recommend using the one with the large tang to keep the slide from hitting you as it functions. Otherwise, the standard sized one is probably the best one.

Learn to use the trigger reset function. It will greatly improve your shooting ability. Congratulations on your purchase. You bought a great pistol.

Cleaning kit, as somebody else said. Any basic cleaning kit will do. Do not over oil your gun. They don't like it at all. Allow the factory break in lubricant to do it's magic. Shoot about 200 rounds before the first time you clean it.

So I can get an upgraded Glock? I didn't know that. I think I'll do that.

I just use Breakfree CLP to clean my guns.

BTW, Bap - you may know this, but for the OP's benefit - all Glock uses at the factory is CLP. No solvent, no separate cleaner.

I found it interesting and follow it with my own Glock 23. The US military, more or less, uses a 100% CLP regimen, too, with some exceptions.

I use Mil-Com stuff on my Sigs, which is their factory recommended brand. I'll give it one thing - it has a light, clean scent that doesn't make is seem like I rebuilt an engine

funny you say that. Products like Ballistol smell like complete crap. It may have a similar chemical makeup though.

Has anyone bought a tactical light/laser combo? I feel like if you want it to be good quality, it will have to be expensive.
