Used vehicle for daughter

What kind of vehicle do you recommend as a first car for a daughter? Looking for a used car that's great on gas.
The 4 I've been looking at so far has been 2012 and above 4 cylinder Accords, Camry's, Malibu, and Cruze. I like them all.
What's the highest mileage you'd feel comfortable with on a used car?
Any make/model I'm overlooking? Thoughts on a Volvo S4?

I bought the Eco Cruze for my daughter. It's been a great car for her. A used Accord is always a great choice.

Honda Accord will last longer and has better resale. Camry is a good option as well.

My plan is to buy something cheap and big. And then make them pay for gas.

Yep. My daughter is 14, her first vehicle will be a truck.

Just bought mine a used Honda pilot. Decent gas mileage but more importantly was the safety rating.

If I have a child, I'm putting him/her in a goddamn tank like truck.
Gas is a small price to pay for peace of mind.

Damn I just sold my 98 dodge work van, it had the ladder rack on it and everything. It would have been perfect for her

What does she look like?
Get her a jeep if she's attractive

The look on her face would be priceless if he surprised his daughter with this

I have a 2006 Volvo S40 I drive as a work vehicle. Love the damn thing. Got 100,000 on it and it's costed me almost nothing. I just run the maintenance schedule. Tires are pretty cheap. If I had a teenager I'd let them drive it. Great crash ratings. Fairly inexpensive vehicle.
