A dilemma most of us face. How extreme to go with dress attire, who to mingle with, how long to mingle with certain people, moderating alcohol consumption, to dance or sit at the table?

The list goes on.

I'd like to hear the OT's approach to company Xmas parties.

Dress festive. Arrive fashionably late. 2 drinks. Work the room once. When you get back to repeating Happy Holidays small talk with the same people, make a quiet exit.

I had no choice. Mine was last night.

I chose to dress very modern and professional. I hardly had to work the room. The room gravitated to me.

So my new outlook on the company xmas party is dress like you are important and let the party come to you.

Good advice. This man has obvious prior company party experience.

For larger gatherings, there will always be that employee that ends up losing their good standing in the company.

For you youngsters, don't be the one that crashes and burns at the Christmas party. Just gtfo. Fast.

Went the first year I was with my company because I thought it was pseudo-mandatory. Turns out I way over-thought it. I was single at the time and didn't want to show up alone, so I just hired an escort to come with. She was nice enough but kept dropping pretty bad vulgarity when I was having small talk with my bosses or co-workers. Anyway, I got a little too drunk and she got way too drunk and we ended up having to catch a really awkward ride home with my boss's secretary. So I can't emphasize enough how important it is not to bring a hired escort to this party. I know it seems like a good idea at first, but trust me.

Same, but our party is in April over 3 nights and is for this exact reason. Got word this week that the one coming up is in Vegas.
