He starts running from the top of the key and takes off 2 feet away from the rim

ya definitely 6 at least. There was a whole bunch at the beginning when he first picks up his dribble but without pausing frame by frame it's hard to count

This is reason #121 why the NBA is ridiculous anymore.

Dude traveled from his car to the rim.

And no travel called . Do the refs even pay attention in NBA games or know how to count to three?

Yeah...no.

Those steps were ridiculous, though

My actual answer is 4.5 steps. So yeah, a really bad travel.

He takes off on his 5th step. He takes a few shuffle steps before that, but the ball isn't in his hand yet. It is still bouncing in the air off the previous dribble. You are allowed to do that, obviously... but not the next 5 steps.

Wait, why not? That definitely sounds wrong.

serious question: if you can't do that, then how do you run down the court while dribbling without travelling every single time. If you are sprinting, you simply cannot dribble that fast where you put the ball down every two steps.

6 steps, but I'd rather see a cool dunk with a little travel than a crappy dunk or lay up with proper dribbling - (when the player is by himself wide open and no one else can make a play on the ball)

It's essentially understood that prior to taking those two steps, you are allowed one step per dribble.

Not one. Not two. Not three. Not four. Not five......

From a lifelong player, coach, ref.....he traveled THREE times. This is one of 47 reasons why I watch zero NBA.
