was 40F
.270 hand load 130 gr BT

Shot this sucker around 8am and it's twin that I hit in the arse. Only had 4 bullets on me and wasn't about to go look for the twin that ran off in some thickets. Beside, the buzzards got to eat.

A easy 125 lbs. That makes 4 in the last 3 weeks.

It's Meat getter over the years. Rem 7600. Been using it for about 20+ years. Will drive a dime at 100 yards with the hand loads I have for it.

Oh, that is the exit hole. Scope is 50mm's.

Last weeks piggy.

Our rut starts around the 12th of this month. One of the reasons I went this morning.

Meat, meat and more meat. My 2 older boys saw a spike and two does in one spot and a 4 point in another area. No meat for us today.

About to get dressed and head to the stand.

Went do some scouting this morning and found about 15 recent rubs that weren't there a week ago and 7 fresh (you can smell and see the freshness) scrapes.

Checked a camera that was setup around a giant acorn tree. Just my luck that one of the scrapes was made next to the tree right in front of the camera. 5.5 year old shooter 8 our 9 point with nice spread and height was the main buck pictured with a few other nice young bucks also.

I have 3 and a half days to hunt...and it will be done seriously. I'm pumped up.

Cro - you in Madison Co.?

You'll have to update me if you have any rut activity? Will be out Saturday and Sunday, maybe tomorrow evening if I'm lucky. May be a little early yet, but ready for it to kick in.
