I guess I have to say it again.
take away four of the most violent metropolitan cities in the US, and this country is the safest place in the world to live with by far the most heaviest armed citizenry in the world.

Have you ever heard him imitate Ted Kennedy? He just speaks gibberish but the accent is perfect.

Jackie Mason was funny...in small doses.
I can't believe the NRA doesn't have him on their most wanted list...Imagine suggesting that a person should have to be licensed by the state to have a gun. That is simply un-American.
He also seems to be suggesting that it is somehow illegal in the United States to have a gun and that this makes it more likely for a person to be a victim of a crime involving a gun. First off if it were illegal to have a gun in the US (it ain't) any thing you did with that gun would be illegal so it would definitely make gun crimes go way up. Second of all no criminal knows if you have a gun or not because it is possible in the US that you could since having a gun is legal in the United States. Not everyone has to have one to make criminals think twice before committing a crime, the possibility that you could have one is enough in most cases. Finally the odds of being involved in a crime in the United States where there is a gun involved is pretty slim. According to the FBI and the NRA about 3 in 10,000 people are victims of gun related crimes in the US annually. Why the hell do I need to carry a 5 pound gun that will be in the way and a nuisance to keep up with given such a low probability of being a victim of a gun crime? I bet anyone here that the odds of having a window knocked out of the truck and having said gun stolen are much greater and thus more expensive than protecting myself against such a crime.
I have lived for nearly 50 years and have never needed a gun to protect myself. I grew up on the west side of Atlanta when Atlanta was the murder capital of the United States (late 70's, early 80's). I owned a house in that area until the late 90's and most of the time it was never locked....I lived in it until the late 80's and I know it was never locked because I didn't have a key to it...for weeks on end it would sit empty and never be locked. The only thing that ever took up missing was my riding lawn mower which was stolen out of the front yard after I started renting the house and it had stopped running and I left it there until I could get some help loading it. It was found down the street and the kid who "stole"it implicated the kid who lived in the house I owned...long story short the only crime I suffered in this neighborhood was of my own doing.
Who needs a gun? I already have to keep up with my truck keys, my cell phone, my pocket knife and my wallet...what the hell do I need with one more thing making my life complicated? I know people who cant leave their house without a pistol and everyone of them is scared shitless of their own shadow....they will also eventually find a use for that pistol if the have it on their person long enough....I know this from experience also. I have two friends and a sister who will not leave home without their pistol and they have all found a reason to pull it out and "defend" themselves...while I have lived in the same area and have never found a reason to do so.
If yall want a gun have a fricking truck load of them. Dont pretend like it is illegal for you to do so though...it just makes you sound silly...

quote:why do you need to wear your seatbelt? Why do you need airbags? Why do you need locks on your doors? shite happens. and it's also clear you're speaking from a point of ignorance...lugging around 5 lbs?
Why the hell do I need to carry a 5 pound gun that will be in the way and a nuisance to keep up with given such a low probability of being a victim of a gun crime?
quote:ok, move to NYC and go purchase a firearm at the store...if you get that far, call the police and ask them to come over and tell you if you're committing a crime. They'll pop you and imprison you for any number of things, then you won't be allowed to have one without all of the tricks and illusions.
Dont pretend like it is illegal for you to do so though
quote:good for you, you 100% represent 330 million americans.

really, some a-hole in dc almost spent the rest of his life in the pokey because he had some old revolver shell in his home...move to nyc and fill out the paperwork, pay the money, and when you're rejecting and out thousands of dollars because you're not connected with the right people, tell me they're not illegal...disparate application. They decide who is allowed to have them and who is not, all kinds of silly, nuanced and nonsensical regulations make it a near certainty that if you have a gun in NYC, you're breaking the law.
