The finding suggest that, over the course of time, football could go the way of boxing, a marquee American sport in the early part of the 20th century that declined amid a similar set of dynamics: changing perceptions of its brutality and star athletes making headlines for violent crimes.

Give it 20-30 years and football will probably morph in a slightly more aggressive version of today's flag football.

This is the peak of football. It's going to be creepy when this country is full of giant football stadiums that we can't fill. With TV advances in addition to rule changes, there is almost no reason to see a game live anymore.

I don't want my son playing football, but I'm not naive to think head butting a soccer ball is harmless either.

Life sucks

frick that shite

nothing better than sitting somewhere between the 30s where you can see the whole field.

a tad bit more replay is all they need in most stadiums.

The overall quality of players will go down but I don't think football will dissapear, either. Particularly in the south.

I won't want my future kids to play football either. Baseball definitely, basketball sure (but good luck with my genes). But football just isn't worth it for the damage it does to your body

I don't have a problem watching pros making millions go out there and destroy each other though

How old are you ? Having been thru the 70's and 80's in person it's gotten progressively worse over the years. With the over pricing and traffic nightmares today, it's just not worth it. Not to mention the gameday experience is so artificial, nothing like it was years ago. It is much more pleasurable to watch from the comfort of your own home on a large HD screen. I agree with all the posts above, the pendulum will be swinging the other direction soon. I despised my last trip to Tiger Stadium (park a mile away, listen to blaring piped in Pink Floyd music, and sat an hour to move 25 feet before traveling another hour in the opposite direction from home) it's totally not worth it unless you stay in an RV on campus. I gave up the season tickets nearly 10 years ago.

old enough to not care about wifi for a few hours and young enough that I'm not too lazy to walk a mile.

If football exists in 30 years it will be unrecognizable. Enjoy the ultraviolence while you can.
