If the U started making playoff appearances, would their crowd improve?

Would their crowd get any better?

I understand it's a tough market. Small school with very few students, big city with a lot to do, hot, humid, traffic, etc.

I get that they won't ever sell the place out consistently.

However, if they got back to being 01 Miami, would they at least get 40-50k actual attendance?

If it becomes the "cool" team to follow, yes, the bandwagon fans of Miami will be all over it. It's the most bandwagon sports town in America, with Atlanta nipping at it's heels.

Doubt it. Miami is such a shitty sports town. Plus the stadium being an hour away from campus doesn't help.

Miami will never been a top-tier program again.

Sure they can get better attendance but they'll never come close to selling out Sun Life for a full season. As good as they used to be they only ever broke 60k+ as a season average 3 times.

Yes because it would become an event. More people would come as the games would be meaningful, more people would make it more exciting which would create more buzz which would lead the games to becoming an event to want to go to.

You nailed the difficulties though if the U is just mediocre. The campus is a long ways from the stadium. Traffic is horrendous between the U and Sunlife (like 1.5 hours to go 30 miles in the afternoons). There is a ridiculous amount of entertainment options in South Florida. Like hundreds of places to go and things to do between Lauderdale and Miami any and every weekend. A football game has to compete with endless options and year round good weather.

It really is an eternity from the campus/South Beach, etc.

The "hot" thing is dumb. Michigan, OSU etc have to deal with brutal winter weather the back half of the season.

I was at the Miami FSU game this year, and you couldn't have had better weather to attend a football game.

Yeah, that shiny new stadium for the Marlins did wonders for their attendance.

I will say though, that I was down there for the Packers/Dolphins game this year and it's got a really nice setup and scene for tailgating.

I want Al Golden at LSU if Les leaves or retires.

I think he's a helluva coach.

People who live in Miami are the worst sports fans in America.
