Wanting teams who aren't in the playoffs to not use the Waivers is hypocritical

The general consensus of Fantasy Football is that, towards the end of the regular season, the teams who aren't playoff contenders still need to be active so they don't become BYE weeks for playoff contenders. I agree with this

Another consensus for some leagues is that teams who aren't in the playoffs or playoff contention shouldn't use the Waiver Wire, I disagree with this.

You can't have it both ways, if you want them to try than they should try all the way, if you don't want them to use Waivers than don't bitch when they start injured people or have empty slots.

Just my 2 cents

Unless completely eliminated, if they are playing in consolidation bracket and playing for pride or a secondary prize then let them. I have a league with friends and consolidation winner is guaranteed a top 5 pick for the next years draft.

You're an idiot and your logic is horrible

Unless drafting order is still being determined by the consolation rounds, eliminated teams should be locked

The only case where they shouldn't be locked is if you're in a keeper or dynasty league.. And I'm still leaving to locking keeper leagues too

Agree, I want to win and if picking up a rb lets me win the last place game then I'm going to do it and everyone else can suck it.

In our league, Last place has to pay for all of the food for next year's draft. So no one likes to finish last. Also, we award most points at the end of the entire season. It's happened where most points didn't make the playoffs, but is still trying to stay in 1st place for Points for.

Waiver wire is important for all teams in my league.

Let's say that we are in the finals against one another. I'm the #1 overall seed and you are the #2. If everyone else locks, you are guaranteed first crack at whatever waiver claim you want. How is that fair?

If teams out of contention couldn't pick up players it would be low hanging fruit for the teams just inside the bubble and would reward owners who weren't good enough for most of the season to be at the top of the league. You play to win the game. Sometimes pride is on the line and you want your record to be respectable.

Let's say me and you are in the finals

I'm waiver #3 and you're waiver #2

You're in need of a RB so I get my friend who has the #1 waiver to pick up the hot waiver pick up

How's that fair?

Collusion is against the rules of, I assume, every league.

That said, I wouldn't be opposed to locking waivers period, as no one getting him is far more fair than the alternative.

I agree. People paid their money, so they get to keep playing the same, regardless.

Collusion is different.

I don't understand why the playoffs teams feel entitled to get the first crack at the top WW prospects. They didn't get it all season. Where does that sense of entitlement come from?
