While some have praised Metttenberger's debut season, including NFL Films' Greg Cosell, Wesseling thinks much less highly of Mettenberger's performance. He writes, "(Mettenberger) is a one-dimensional quarterback beset by a long delivery, an inability to handle pressure, slow eyes and scattershot accuracy."

I love Mettenberger and am pulling for him. He seems to have some mechanics problems that we saw at LSU too.

If we would have had him this year, we would be playing in the Sugar.

Said it from the very beginning, give him time, he will tear apart secondaries. Put pressure on him, he folds like a tent. He NEEDS a great OL, period.

Tennessee has one of the worst OLs in the league due to injuries and rooks.

Whatever

Mett needs to improve, but playing behind a 3rd string OL did not help. Their HC did not help the weak OTs with RBs or TEs either. I like the Titans, but they just down right suck.

He needs to work on the time from decision to delivery. This is why despite Peyton Manning being like a statue back there hes been wildly successful. His decision making and his arm.

Of Mett works onthe arm, the decision making will hopefully speed up as the game slows down.

There is a reason they are 2-10. I was at the Titans/Texans game and their defense (and OL for that matter) is really atrocious.

Hell, even JJ Swat scored a TD on them as a freaking TE when they KNEW he was getting the ball

Greg Cosell is the best in the business. Mett has done exceptionally well in his first year. Especially considering the Titan's entire OL has been decimated by injuries. Two positions are down to 3rd string.

NFL.com's Chris Wesseling writes, "The question the Titans have to ask over the next few months is whether Mettenberger showed enough potential in six starts to prevent the organization from drafting his replacement in 2015."

Well, this is a tad overreacting...

From what I've seen, the Titans have MUCH bigger concerns on draft day than drafting a replacement for a rookie QB who completed 60% of his passes behind a terrible O-line.

He's in a no-win situation. He should have been sitting behind a seasoned starter for his first couple of years learning his craft instead of being thrown into the fire.

Yeah Titans may have one of the worst supporting casts in the league. A lot of great QBs would struggle to win there

His O line is absolutely terrible..especially when Lewan went out. JJ Watt was literally laughing at the product they put on the field.

more than a tad.

yes Mett has issues but the Titans franchise thinks he can be their guy. Needs help. I'm sure the guy who ripped Mett thinks Kap and the like are the future

In the NFL you better win and be consistent to stick in the league
He's done better than any other rookie QB coming off a major injury late in college

I agree. Maybe he'll pan out, maybe he won't. But all these people talking about folding under pressure and bad mechanics need to remember that he's a rookie.

Of course he's going to struggle. He's had one summer of professional QB tutelage, and less than a season of experience. Oh yeah, and he was a 6th round pick. I say he's still an incredible value at this moment in time.

I at the fact that he says he is a one dimensional quarterback as if it's a bad thing.

80% of the QBs in the league are one-dimensional

His accuracy is pretty good and he has a cannon but he is good for at least 1 or 2 turnovers per game at this stage. He's a rookie. Give him an OL in front of him and he's good to go
