Not any better Lamar, Rice and SMU. Saves on Travel I guess. Time for an upgrade

It's basically too late to make changes to 2015 at this point. They should, however, be taking a hard look at 2016.

It's just as bad in 2016 and 2019. They at least have Duke in 17 and 18. Pretty inexcusable for a power 5 conference team IMO.

Hard to say now since the playoff committee just finished its rookie season, but the Big12 may have suffered the same fate of the Pac-10 when they began playing 9. That is, it backfired. The more conf games you play, the more everyone's SOS approaches the mean, meaning that the top SOS's are hurt by the extra game against a team in the same incestuous pool. If a math formula is used, it is harder for a Big 12 team to get in the playoff than it is for an SEC team to get in even without the benefit of an SECCG. This may or may not be a factor at all since the selections are done by committee rather than by math exclusively.

Think about it. If the Big 12 and SEC somehow won all their OOC games, the SEC combine for a .665 winning percentage as opposed to the Big 12's .625. That's a pretty big gap.

I believe Tennessee now has an opening with UAB gone. Take it pay off one of the other schools.

Is this a good board to cast stones about other schools' 2015 OOC schedules?

LSU plays McNeese, Syracuse (our "big" home-and-home OOC team for next, who just went 3-9 this year), Eastern Michigan, and Western Kentucky.

It's a freaking embarrassment.

Yet LSU will still have a top 25 schedule. Nothing embarrassing about it.

For a team that bitches as much as LSU does about the Tennessee/Florida thing ( Florida), you'd think they wouldn't try to get away with scheduling Syracuse like they are a legit OOC opponent.

Our AD and Briles thought was if we go undefeated it doesn't matter who we play in OOC.

However, it's very difficult to go undefeated.

AD said last Monday we are currently in talks with P5 schools for future OOC games. Some of these teams will be bought out and replaced.

You're telling me that you, as an Alabama alum, that you would be embarrassed by this?

LSU is wisely mitigating what they predict will be a tough conference schedule. It has ALWAYS benefitted them when they've been anywhere near the title mix. SOS has never kept them out of anything; it has only given them a boost against their other top-rated peers.

If you're bored by these games, I am too, but if you think this is anything other than what is smart for the program as far as on-field success is concerned, you're quite mistaken.

any SEC schedule with a power 5 out of conference game is going to be a strong schedule in the SoS end of year rankings
