His answer was that he was trying to pull the Bama guy off of the pile. He said he often does that when players are just laying on top of a pile, or jumping in late after a runner is down. He explained that he normally grabs other player by the belt, and pulls them off of the pile. This Bama player didn't have a belt on and Stokes ended up pants-ing him.
Whether true or not, I don't know. But that was the explanation.

If you watch Stokes in the gif, as soon as he realizes there's no belt, he let's go immediately with his hands up like 'my bad'.
I think he was just trying to pull players off of his quarterback. I'm pretty sure this is when Jennings had his facemask ripped off.
