Is there a way to mass select a group of pictures and reduce the file size/quality. I take pics on my DSLR in highest quality. After editing my favorites, I usually keep the other other decent pics but don't need them in 7 MB files. Is there anyway to select a lot and reduce them together?

Adobe Lightroom maybe does this? I haven't used it often enough but Im pretty sure you can batch edit a bunch of files.

Eta: a Google search revealed you can do this with picasa, which is free

I thought Picasa didn't actually change the source file?

With that image resizer I posted about, you just open the folder, select files, right click, select size, and wait. No opening up programs or anything, just right click

I use this because it saves the EXIF data as well. A lot of resize programs erase it when doing batch resizing.

stout, thanks that work greats.

I can't really tell any difference in the 6 MB pics that I take and the 3 MB compressed files. I suppose I'll keep the best in the highest quality...

Do you typically shoot on large file size?
