Why doesn't the rest of the country vote on Saturdays? It's the most convenient day for most people. I can't think of any large group of people who could possibly be inconvenienced.

Do any other states regularly hold Saturday elections?

Mississippi does not want the minority peoples to vote. The Republican Party opposes Saturday voting, and early voting.

I don't understand this. I view Saturdays as better for Repliblicans, considering on a typical Tuesday, they are at their 9-5 job.

Yeah, I would think poor/minority voters would be more likely to have trouble voting on Saturday.

If a person can't get a free ID card I seriously doubt they have a preference for day of the week.

This issue came up several times in the 80's when I was in the Senate. The reason La. has Saturday elections is because of Unions/ Organized Labor lobbyists. They have Saturdays off, and they can get their members that are off Saturdays out to vote and help in getting the Black vote out. That's a big reason. Democratic Party always asked me to vote for Saturday elections, not Tuesday. I prefer Tuesdays. people can vote as they come or go from work. I always voted after 5:00, as I went home. If you are drawing welfare/food stamps and are not working on Saturdays, it's easy to vote Saturdays, they told me.

It's definitely less convenient for me to vote Tuesday. I work 8-5 and my job is about 20 miles from my house.

Welfare people can vote no matter what day it is. The working poor are more likely to have to work Saturdays so they get the least benefit from the Saturday election.

Here in Florida, I signed up to have every election ballot sent to me by mail. All I have to do is fill it out and mail it back in. I haven't been to a polling place in a few years. Is that an option in Louisiana?
