it would be a disgrace if the one loss big 10 champ doesn't get in .....

imo 8 teams is the only answer ....

5 conference champs plus 3 wildcard

every conference has to have a title game...

no matter the record the conference champ moves on ....
example .... tech beats noles , they in ...

the committees only input should be on the remaining three teams ...

that way smaller schools get a chance but it shouldn't get any automatic bids ....

example .... a one loss sec team gets beat by a two loss sec team , the two loss team advances but the one loss team may be elected in by the committee based on their regular season performance ...

That's the way it should be. Too many games is my biggest concern, health wise for the team.

I agree that a 6-8 team playoff is better, I have no problem with tOSu being left out. They have the worse loss of any of the top 5 or 6 teams and the play in 5th or 6th best conference.

I have no problem with them a #5 and left out.

This has been the argument from the beginning.

I think a MUCH bigger injustice would be a 1-loss TCU getting in over a 1-loss Baylor wneh they are in the same conference, Baylor won the conference and beat TCU head to head.

my main concern is too much human input , I would like to see the criteria laid out and teams earn their way in based on that criteria ....

I am very curious to see what happens with the selection committee if Baylor wins tonight.

IMO, no way should TCU get in over Baylor for the reasons you stated. But TCU is #3 right now.

there was a pretty good thread on the SEC rant about it. The final outcome was

Power 5 champs with 2 or less losses
At large bids the rest.

I idea was to keep a shitty team out for playing in a weak division in a weak conference or something.

but yeah 8 teams makes sense.

The play-off system is a farce!!! It is all about $$$$ for the networks/conferences.

An 8 team playoff would be drastically better than what we have now, but on the other hand people would still bitch about the 9 and 10 teams getting left out. Hell, the NCAAM tournament has what 68 teams, and every year there is controversy and people bitching that they were the 68 best team in the country.

That's easy...

6 conferences, make them all have a conference championship game and that is basically round 1 of the playoff.

The 6 conference champs move on into the real playoff. They get seeded and the top 2 seeds get a bye.

Win your conference and you are in, don't win and your out.

In this situation there would really be no penalty for scheduling good interconference games because even if you lose, you haven't hurt your playoff chances.

This isn't as big of an issue as it's made out to be. It's just talking points for media.

you make a very good point , but I would rather them have a chance on the field instead of a group of people leaving them out because their starting qb was hurt ...

I think blowing up the conferences would be problematic.

And on TCU, I don't think that they should get the nod over Bailor for reasons already stated in this thread (assuming Bailor wins tonight), but i don't see the committee dropping them out in favor of Bailor when just last week they bumped them ahead of the only undefeated team. The only way Bailor gets in IMO is if FSU loses, or the unthinkable happens and the committee actually drops the only undefeated team out of the top 4.

My only problem with the BCS is that winning your conference didn't matter (see OU 2003 and Bama 2011)
