NYT: Mary is toast

They ran a feature on Mary Friday. They lament that she is doomed. The reason she will lose? Racism. When Obama was elected it started a gradual and continuing move of white southern democrats into the republican camp. They just can't handle the idea of a black president.
Do they discuss the possibility that the movement was caused by Obama being too far left? Nooooo. It's skin color.
And, when you consider the ideology of the NYT staff they probably don't consider Obama far left. To them he's a moderate.
BTW, I just got an email from Debbie Wasserman Schultz reminding me to go vote for Mary today. "And remember, if you get in line before 8 pm they have to let you vote."

Oh. Right. I forgot. Only the south has racists.
But hey, I'm actually going to agree with the NYT a bit here.
In the last 6 years, Democrats have SIGNIFICANTLY stepped up rhetoric that alienates white voters. Hell, that one ad by Mary is basically a declaration of taking racial sides.
When you tell a group of people EVERY TIME they disagree with a person, they do so ONLY because they are racists and not because they genuinely hold different political views, eventually, you're probably going to alienate that group of people.
That's human nature. You can only accuse someone for so long before they finally just say "frick you".

Black voters voting for Obama > 95%, no big deal.
White voters voting against white chick in Louisiana at about an 82% clip = racism.
I think the fundamental problem the left is having right now is that they were correct about something, but acted on it a bit soon.
They were correct that as demographics shift in America, the minority vote will carry the day so they can sell whites down the river.
The problem is, those demographics haven't shifted ENOUGH yet that they can totally say "f-you" to the white vote but, for the last 6 years, they've spent every waking moment calling any white who disagrees with Obama a racist.
How they don't understand that what they've effectively done is chosen sides in a political race war is beyond me. But, that's exactly what they've done and now, even moderate whites are starting to go, "hey, these people would frick me in the arse as long as it got them the vote of the growing demographic".
Of course, that's been true for years, but now it's obvious. The simple reality is that the left rhetoric about people needing to "stop voting against their self interests" has started to actually take hold among whites. White people have come to understand that for a Democratic politician, in ALL cases where minority interests compete with white interests, the Democratic politician is going to be anti-white interests. Hell, the Democrats basically are saying this OUT LOUD lately.
What did they think that would do to voting patterns?

You are correct. And it also explains why the big push for Mexican amnesty. The Dems need to speed up the process in making the white vote irrelevant.

They are going to continue to maintain majorities of black voters for a good while. BUT, as we are seeing even with these recent shootings, blacks willing to go off script are becoming more common and more easily heard.
If Democrats do with hispanics what they did with blacks(namely, choose sides with the growing Demographic), blacks may well take note over time that they are no longer the favored sons.
Democrats have been operating for some time under the theory that they can say frick the white vote and just continue to get 95% of the black vote and then shoot for similar numbers among hispanics.
Alas, they'll probably always hover closer to at best, a consistent 70%. If they screw up and the black vote shifts to something close to 70% once they realize they're now on the opposite side of the racial game, Democrats could really screw the pooch electorally. I mean, whites are still going to be a significant voting block for some time!!

How come they never report the racism of Mary's family? There had been a nice orderly line up of Black mayors in New Orleans until Mary's white brother came along.

Yeah, it was widely reported that Mary cut a deal with the DNC. "If you want me to vote Dem when La. voters are trending the other way then I want pay back. And one payback is no serious black candidate running against my brother."
