You see how quickly some of these coaches come out and make a statement if they aren't interested in a certain vacancy, to calm their respective fan bases and squash the rumors. For example, Bret Bielema/Nebraska yesterday. The question is whether Michigan can get their FIRST choice (Harbaugh)...

How many coaches come out and say they aren't interested and it turns out they were full of shite? Speaking up about it means nadda.

Or Les is out recruiting and has already said he's not looking for another job and is happy at LSU.

Well, if that's the case, why doesn't he come out and say it?

Or Les is letting his name be out there for the exposure for the recruits to know he is wanted by a major school.

Seriously? Get real...

If its that bad then he needs to leave, come on man its all about money, whos got more to offer. At the end of the day if Mich is willing to break the bank, then Les is gone.

according to the Board of Supervisors...the last time Michigan offered him more money than he was making at the time and he passed

Of course, Les is allowing his name to be out there. He is interested in the job. It's up to Michigan to convince Les that he's their man. Michigan has a short window to do that or Miles will shut the door again. I'd guess this is a matter of days, not weeks.

Les is on the road recruiting.

Do you want him to pull over in Beaumont to hold a press conference to say he has no interest in for a job he hasn't been contacted about?

If Michigan extends an actual offer, Miles will have to consider it. But he won't leave to get away from any dysfunctional fanbase. I've looked at Michigan fans a couple of times in the last few years and they are easily as crazy as we are. It's like that moment when you realize looking in the mirror that you look an awful lot like your crazy divorced uncle Charles who drinks in the morning. We won't keep or run off Les Miles. He is grounded enough that he can make up his own mind.

By the way, the deep divisions and crazy within the Michigan athletic department might scare Miles off.

Miles is the linchpin in the coaching carousel. The fun stuff will start to happen when he decides to stay or go. Harbaugh's got to much to lose by going to Michigan. Take the Raiders job, with a future move to LA, where he would be treated like a god.

Just because you think it is necessary doesn't mean he does. He commented on this last week, when asked specifically about the speculation the Michigan job would be available.

Whatever his intentions are, at this very moment, the best move is to remain silent.

Because he doesn't owe anyone an answer except Alleva, his team, and his recruits.

As long as his family, the coaching staff, the recruits, and powers that be at LSU know where he stands why does he HAVE to say anything to the media? Just so the fans don't have to continue to speculate and work themselves up into a fit?

You know, the way Saban did.
