New Samsung TV is too glossy and shows ceiling lights in reflection

I have one in my girls playroom that is hard to watch in the day time. Too much glare. But there really wasn't a better place to hang it. And the stand was broken off so I couldn't put it in a cabinet anywhere. Pretty much the same model downstairs has no issues with glare and reflections. Can you put a dimmer on the lights?

They're supposed to reduce reflection

Are they can lights? Flush mounts? Hanging? Mine are all cans in the living room but the ones upstairs are hanging lights. I have to dim them at night but the cans don't give glare at all.

i have a 55 samsung and also have recessed lights on a dimmer, I dont notice this though. which model do you have?

The glare on my new Panasonic is as bad or worse than my old Panasonic plasma. And the pic is not anywhere near as good. I;m pretty pissed.

Samsung has primarily used glossy screens on their lcd's for a while. It helps with contrast and makes colors look more saturated. Downside obviously is glare. Matte screens typically look more dull in comparison

So it sounds like they tried to make them more Plasma like and in the process of half assing it brought back one of the major downsides of Plasma without as good a picture.

There are matte options - I would definitely do significant research on this issue before buying a television. We typically watch in low-light/medium light conditions, but I don't want a glossy finish for a whole host of reasons.
