The thumb bar to disengage the gears in order to cast the reel, it's stuck. As in I cannot press it down at all. Surely someone has had his issue and can help

Thanks

Try to google stuff about taking apart your model citica, see if you can find a forum or something where someone has done a step by step breakdown and put back together with pictures, get a tray with a white towel on it and start taking it apart. See what's causing the problem.

If you can fix it, go for it, if a part needs replacing, find a schematic online of the reel, find part number, call shimano and order.

Not familiar with Citica, I use calcuttas. But if you just took it apart, you have to make sure the thumb bar is lifted up when you put it back together, in the same position as when you broke it down. Not sure if that's what you mean, but it's all I got.

Superior fixes reels... That being said it cost me $40 for them the change out a bearing and clean it up.

There are youtube videos on how to break down shimano reels to fix issues.

I've taken a few apart to fix using the schematic and the video. I am not good at fixing shite, either.

They charge $20 for just a roller bearing. So $20 to clean it up. They sure are proud of those shimano parts. I'll probably try boca bearings next go around.

I'm scared of boca bearings. I don't backlash much anymore, but I feel like a windy day and bad cast would be bad news.

Boca bearings are an incredible upgrade over what comes from Shimano! I changed mine out on 7 of my calcutta's and glad I did you don't have to "load up" as much to get out there.
Only complaint is I can hear them at times because they are sealed ceramic rollers and you can't oil them.
