Regarding Miles to Michigan - if not NOW, then NEVER. Hence, I say he's gone.

Miles has made his love and respect for his alma mater well known over the years. If he ever had aspirations of coaching there - NOW is the time to do it.

- He is 62 years old. If he doesn't make this move now, safe to say that he NEVER will.
- 3rd times the charm? The previous 2 attempts by Michigan to lure MIles away failed - maybe it works this time. There really aren't many other candidates who woudl be a good fit.
- This is his last opportunity to follow in the footsteps of his long-time legendary mentor - Bo Schembechler. By righting the Michigan ship and getting the football program back to elite status he would have the opportunity to create his own legacy at the school and be right up there with Bo.
- He has the personality, the recruiting ability, and loves the brand of football that Michigan needs right now - tough, in the trenches, power-running game.
- I would hate to see him go - he has been the coach of LSU during some of the BEST years in the school's history and has given us all lots of memories (and heartache for that matter). However, the Michigan job means a lot more to Miles than football - it's home, it's history, it's Bo's legacy. He gave Lebron James a shout out when Lebron announced his decision to go to Cleveland and I think the same sentiments may be at play here.

Hope you stay Coach but if you do leave, I will be rooting for nothing but success for you at Michigan.

This is my targeted retirement age. I don't have anything left in the tank now and I'm 37, can't even imagine what it will be like at 62.

With his sweet contract/young talent coming back I have a hard time seeing it. His roots in Louisiana are awfully deep at this point.

I wouldn't be totally shocked but it would be surprising.

I have to agree. Not in favor of Coach Miles leaving, but his love for Michigan is there and if this provides him an opportunity to fulfill a desire to coach at his alma mater, then who am I to fault him. I had the same thoughts about Coach Saban leaving for the NFL. He had the desire to coach in the NFL, who was I at the time to question his desire?

You can bet any contact with Miles has happened weeks ago. If it's Miles it will happen quick and there will be no search. The longer it goes on, less likely it will be Miles.

Not as deep as his roots in Michigan. You never forget where you are from and the place that shapes you.

Ann arbor is a much better place than baton rouge to retire.

Hard to tell if he's really that into Michigan, or does he know he can keep using them to get raises.

Is that really the "brand of football" they need? Right now their most hated rival is kicking their arse running a "spread" attack. Also, what evidence is there that he would have as much recruiting success at Mich. as he has had at LSU? Most of his BIG recruits here have been from Louisiana, Texas, and Florida which "coincidentally" are were many of the best football players in the country reside. It's a lot easier to get a kid from Texas or Louisiana to come to LSU than it is to get them to come to Michigan.

How many more games/championships do you think another coach could have brought LSU.

Do you watch cfb? Other than Saban at Alabama, Les has been about as successful as anybody else. It amazes me how easy people on here must think it is to win 10+ games, sec championships and make it to the national championship.

If he's not a candidate for Michigan and knows that LSU ain't giving him a raise; you'd think he'd do some kind of statement.

This gives me hope.

he's been at LSU for 10 years
he just got an extension
money is not an issue
he will be the winningest coach in program history and an LSU legend after he retires
LSU is in a better situation the Michigan
its easier to recruit in Louisiana

he's staying

Their #1 target is Harbaugh. And if they don't land Harbaugh, they can pretty much cross Miles off their list as well.

add to that he has a son who will be a Junior in high school. Don't see Les uprooting family.
