Does it annoy anyone else that this board drafted better than the Saints?

When the 2014 draft was looming, we had countless threads about how deep it was and what we should do.

There was also a great draft simulator plenty of us used, and most were solid drafts that had us taking players that were still available when the Saints actually drafted.

I would probably take any of those drafts over the one we had, and while this is extremely premature because you should wait 3 years to grade a draft, it looks like we really fricked up on this one.

Does anyone have a link to the thread with all the mocks? Would love to see it.

And sometimes it's true. The people paid to do this job don't know as much as the fans, but such is life.

Round 1, Pick 20 (From Cardinals)
Oregon St. WR Brandin Cooks

Solid pick, though he is on IR. Big play potential and will be that Weapon X next season as Stills emerges as a legit receiver. No complaints here.

Round 2, Pick 26 (58 overall)
Nebraska DB Stanley Jean-Baptiste

Has size, which you can't coach, but apparently never played football before. A project at a position of major need.

Round 4, Pick 26 (126 overall)
California ILB Khairi Fortt

Off the team already. Waste.

Round 5, Pick 27 (167 overall)
Alabama SS Vinnie Sunseri

On IR, but looks promising compared to what people thought of him out of college. Will probably always be a special teams ace. Not a terrible thing to have on the team.

Round 5, Pick 29 (169 overall) (From Patriots through Eagles)
Florida OLB Ronald Powell

Meh. Don't hear much about him. Plays special teams. With how shite our linebackers are, he should get a chance for major playing time next season.

Round 6, Pick 26 (202 overall)
Kansas St. OT Tavon Rooks

When he was drafted, he thought someone played a joke on him. But we have a tendency to do well with late picks on OT's, so I guess we will see.

This draft had impact players available in all of the rounds, and this board identified many of them at areas we needed.

Hindsight is 20/20, but damn sometimes I wish we could vote on who we draft.

Rand Al Thor I think it was pimped LB's all offseason...

CJ Mosley and Ryan Shazier were players he identified. He like many suggested waiting on a WR(Love Cooks/but WR was deep).

Mosely and Shazier never came close to our pick.

I locked in on Big WRs Kelvin(1st) or Matthews(2nd)

Rational: Speed was desperately needed yes...but Drew loves big guys and we needed a true no.1 to possibly replace Colston. Stills and Morgan I figured could suffice for speed threats in the meantime.

Everyone knew we needed a Center...we never came close to drafting one. Linsely a 5th rounder for GB was rated last week as the no.2 C according to PFF.

other teams to draft a C were NE and SF neither look like busts.

Richburg was moved to G at the start of the season and shortly thereafter was injured...too early to tell on him.

Many of us wanted to trade up to get CJ Mosley or Brandin Cooks. Which we did, but CJ Mosley would have been a damn dream come true.

Many of us at the same time wanted to sit still or trade back into early 2nd and get Jordan Matthews. Big body, good speed, solid hands, and seems like a "colston-esque" replica that produced back to back 1300+ yard seasons at vandy. He had #1 in the saints offense written all over him.

Some of us wanted Jarvis Landry as a possession receiver, turns out well for Miami.

Some of us wanted to draft and double dip in WR or draft Dri Archer/DAT. Both of those aren't doing so hot, but a few of the "3rd/4th" round WR names are surely playing well that we thought would do well:
Donte Moncrief (3rd round) -> 390 yards, 2 TDs
Martavis Bryant (4th round) -> 321 yards, 6 TDs

Personally, I wanted Davante Adams in the 2nd and Jordan Matthews in the 1st. That was never happening and would pretty much shove Colston out of the door.

Some of us wanted to draft a center, mainly Stork:
Richburg (2nd round) -> backup guard (NYG)
Marcus Martin (3rd round) -> starting center (49ers)
Travis Swanson (3rd round) -> backup turned starting RG after injury (Lions)
Bryan Stork (4th round) -> starting center (Pats)

I think in the 1st Round we were basically screwed when the real run on talent started.

12 Giants Odell Beckham WR
13 Rams Aaron Donald DT
14 Bears Kyle Fuller CB
15 Steelers Ryan Shazier OLB
16 Cowboys Zack Martin OT
17 Ravens C.J. Mosley ILB

All were players that I hope the Saints were looking at...and they all basically went back to back to back and forced the Saints into trading up...Cooks may have been one of the last players on their 1st Round Big Board available.

Absolutely, but some of them you knew were gonna get picked early.

Shazier: most mocks had him as early as 15 and as late as us

Mosley: most mocks had him around the Ravens and as late as Green Bay

Odell was a late teens and Fuller was a late 20s pick in most eyes.

Any other year and Jordan matthews would have been a 1st rounder. This past year had 2 "flashy" WRs, 1 "playmaker", and 2 big bodies that all produced well in college for big name teams.

Seemed like a waste. His k state teammate and Nola native, Cornelius Lucas went undrafted and is now a starting tackle for the lions. I was hoping during the 7th round that the saints would have given him a shot

when you run through every player, i guess it comes across as this board "hitting on every player"

It's pretty hard to say anything positive about our draft other than Cooks flashing some bog play ability before getting hurt and Sunseri being a special teams beast...before he got hurt.

This. It's pretty funny seeing people with hindsight talk about doing better than pros at this
