Could go back to the big10 when Michigan whiffs at Harbaugh and Miles.

I think this is what ends up happening.

Michigan whiffs on Harbaugh and their backup plan (Mullen?) and hires Schiano as their fallback option. I actually think he's a great hire for anyone who gets him, and SI did a feature on him a few weeks ago about how he's making the most of his year off, touring several prominent programs and learning all he can from top coaches.

Would Miami do this? Golden stuck with that program through some pretty dark times when he could've bolted.

It's business. Besides if Golden had gotten the Penn St. job last year he was going to drop Miami like a hot potato. And, Golden wanted the Penn St. job badly.

Was going to say, I think it's because he's an indisputably bad human being.

After Pelini I'd think Nebraska wouldn't want a Schiano type.

There have been more than a few articles about him as a person, and none were flattering. It's fact, amongst those who follow the NFL, that he totally pissed off the majority of pro scouts who would come to scout his players at Rutgers. He had all kinds of rules & regs that scouts had never run across before & it got so bad that at one point, the word "boycott" was being thrown around by league scouts. His record in the pros speaks for itself. He was a colossal prick according to most accounts.

Which was absolutely the dumbest thing ever, too. Why in the heck would a college coach go out of his way to make life miserable for pro scouts at his school and make teams not want to draft his kids? How did he not understand that there's a legimate coorelation between recruiting and draft picks, and programs like Alabama tout being an NFL factory to recruits (hint: it works).

That MMQB article pointed out that guys like Saban and Urban Meyer are lauded by NFL scouts for rolling out the red carpet for them, which in turn gets their kids noticed/evaluated/drafted, which Saban can then show kids during the recruiting process.

Also, it was so dumb that Schiano tried to explain it away in that article with "durrr well I was so focused on football I didn't pay any attention to scouts and didn't realize I had that reputation or that it was important durr."
