Yes, this is a response thread, but is necessary to take away from other bs.

1. Collins: without this guy, we wouldn't have an offense, period. We lack a great offense, but without Collins at LT, we have nothing. We ran behind this guy the whole season. Not to mention, he helped lead the meeting after the Auburn game that proved to be a turn around for the team.

2. Beckwith: this guy is just gifted. As soon as he was inserted, his impact was immediately felt. The opposing team's run game was shut down once he was in.

3. Fournette: the guy got it done when it needed to get done. Maybe not in every circumstance, but he showed us all how good he can be. From the graceful spin move he made in the Florida game to last game where he made his best impression of an 18 wheeler vs a bicycle, he's been consistent since he's gotten used to the game. Bright future.

4. Godchaux: this guy anchored a pretty good line after the auburn game. The team really stepped up their D, and beckwith AND godchaux stepped up to stuff anything that came their way. This guy is only a freshman, only 275, and just came off a blown knee. Amazing potential.

5. Adams: another key to reviving this D in the second half of the season. Layed hits all year and really got into the mind of opposing offenses. He brings back the swagger that Mathieu brought. The confidence and violence he had.

Notice that 3/5 of these guys are true freshman. Freshman. The future is bright, my friends.

ETA:

Kwon: can't believe I forgot this guy, but he was amazing all year. Great pursuit, awesome ability to fill a hole, and made many TFLs. We wouldn't be half the D we are without him.

Great thread.

I like the order, too. Might switch Godchaux and Adams. But you make good points for those.

Thanks. I'm a defensive tackle by trade, so that's probably why I have him ahead of Adams..

Definitely. They'd be in my top 10, not top 5 though.

I think Beckwith should be #1

I think he saved the season. without him the defense is middle of the road at best.

It's crazy what beckwith, godchaux, and Adams did to our defense

1. Beckwith - he's #1 on my list because we saw the before and after effect he had on our D. We went from being very weak in the middle and not being able to stop anyone to 1 of the best rush D in the country. He's a monster

2. Collins - refer to OP

3. Kwon - always showed up and balled out. Always. Made huge plays for us all season long and has been since he got here.

4. Tre White - Definition of rock solid at CB. A diff type of player than the likes of PP, TM, etc but has the same impact as those guys. He's not as much a playmaking CB as those guys were, but he's ALWAYS in position and is a mistake free CB. Great open field tackler and extremely smart player. He doesn't make mistakes, blows coverages or missed an assignment. If you wanna beat him, you have to physically go make the play over him because he's always in outstanding position He did a great job on guys like Amari Cooper and Treadwell. Alabama started going away from him he did such a good job. Oh and his 10.6yards per punt return is 17th in the nation.

5. LF - LF only had 15 or more carries in 6 games. And in those 6 games he's averaged 106.7ypc (5.2ypc)and a TD.. And 3 of those 6 games came agaiant Bama, UF, and Ole Miss, 3 of the best rushing D in the game. I think UF and Bama are top 10 or right outside it, and Ole Miss is like top 30. And when they were healthy when we played them they were top 10. He was single handily the offensive reason we beat Ole Miss, UF, TAMU. Has A great shot of breaking LSUs freshman rushing record with a nice bowl game and will finish top 2. And continues to get better and better. Just scratching the surface with him, and that's scary to think about.

Wish I could add more players because Godchaux, Adams, Rasco, Magee, Dural, etc all should be mentioned.

Yea on his punt returns... That guy said it was non-existent. Which is why I point out the fact that Tre White had a 10.6yards per return this year which is top 20 in the country. Oh and it was better than OBJs average in 2013 and 2012.

People are just gonna think what they think despite what facts say. And no point wasting your breathe trying to change their opinion, because it ain't gonna happen.

Hell I love it when they try and turn a positive into a negative.... For example: LF 46yard run vs TAMU. Great run, got caught by a fast DB with the angle. Some people forget about the great game he had and try to turn a 46yard run into "LF is slow" and bash the kid. It's hilarious.
