New Orleans Airport TSA Shenanigans

So, going through 'security' at MSY TSA station. 'Agent' keeps cell phone and driver's license. Says go through, you'll get them back.
After a bit, agent says $10 for phone, $20 for license. Supervisor right there. Ask supervisor "you see this?" Supervisor says "you want your stuff?"
Several other phones and licenses on desk. Anybody else face this situation?

1. You only hand over your license with your ticket before you hit security.
2. You don't hand over anything at security. They just go in a dog bowl on the conveyor or one of those buckets.

It will happen again if it happened here. Just bookmark the thread. It is true. Went to NY over Thanksgiving and on the way there this happened.
