Why can't we just get a mildly talented pro-style qb?

Like someone 3-4 stars that's serviceable and be coached up a little. Someone that's actually going to come ( ZL) and not a drama queen (gk). We can find every other position that fits our system yet we've hit on only one better than decent QB that actually fits us in the last 7 years.

How is this not possible?

And a dual threat qb. WE NEED PRO STYLE.

We had pro-style in mett and set offensive records.

why are you guys so hung up on monikers or catagories. Talent is talent and you win with talent.

Because it is not what we have "want" for. Miles has made it clear he prefers an athletic QB, yet doesn't want to run an offense that utilizes such a QB.

This question gets asked everyday on here and the answers are meaningless, because no one on here is on the staff. And the staff has an impenetrable wall up.

Christ almighty. Do you know what dual threat actually means? It means you can throw AND run.

But yeah, let's get another statue out there. Mett's inability to move around in the pocket and/or run at all was essential to our offensive success last year.

QB isn't exactly an easy position to scout. Anthony Jennings has great measureables for a QB, but the mentality and "it" factor can't be measured.

U serious? You can't see the different types of talent in a mett vs a Harris?

We did with Rettig...not sure how he was behind Jennings, harris, and rivers on the DC. He must've been awful in practice, but then again I'm not so sure I trust our coaches to play the best guy

As Hanagriff has pointed out, >90% of the high schools in LA and TX run the spread. There just aren't many dropback QB's in our traditional recruiting area.

Rettig and rivers... We let them go bc having a QB who can run is apparently more important...

We have good QB recruits. They just haven't developed yet. AJ is close. He played a very good game yesterday. AJ will be a good QB in the SEC. He's just not good enough to be playing as a sophomore. Do you think your "3-4 stars that's serviceable" recruit is going to be good as a sophomore? Hell no!

Harris might be a great one. At this point in his career no one knew Jameis Winston was going to be good. Our QB problems were a result of poor offensive coordinators. We have an excellent coordinator now, and he's recruiting well at QB. This is the last year in a long time that we'll have subpar QB play.

Rettig and rivers

1. Rettig is athletic and can make plays with his feet.
2. Rivers is hot garbage.

Miles went to Atlanta to get Anthony Jennings.

We can. We choose not to. We try to develop duel threat QBs in a pro style offense and it results in what you saw this year.

It's fricking stupid.

Maybe mett staying in the pocket was why we saw one of the best offenses in 5+ years.

Perrilloux could have been great. Jefferson was an idiot and not a good QB. Jennnings isn't a true dual threat because he can't throw. Got any more questions?
