show used to be cool but then they started talking exclusively about obama and mexicans. has anything changed?
This, show used to be great before it turned into a 4 hour whine fest about Obama. Now it is not even funny and kinda boring.

I listen during work days, not as funny as they were but still better than anyone else

I used to like when they were funny--which was about 20 years ago.
This...But give them credit for business sense. I think they realized they were out of touch on the comedy side and tapped into the the conservative talk radio genre that now dominates.
Not my cup of tea but it is for lots of folks, especially in south Louisiana.
But I haven't laughed at anything original they've done in a long time. Some of the recurring packaged skits and songs they play are funny

I fall asleep every night with ear buds in. I love the BBC "service" and Coast to Coast radio because vampire aliens make sense in a fugue state at 3:47 am. I hated Walton and Johnson for years but have warmed to them over time. They can be pretty funny.

They were so good before they shifted into the negative/pandering/whining/obsessive political shite. I can't stand to listen to it now, and I used to love them.
That happened as soon as they moved back to Texas and started pandering to that audience. They weren't half bad when they were out of N.O., but they're complete garbage now.

It actually started in the Bush administration FWIW.

They suck. Well, Walton sucks worse than Johnson to be fair.
W&J moved to Dallas back in the 80's and used to trash Louisiana and New Orleans because they thought that would sell in Dallas. Unfortunately for Louisiana, W&J's ratings in Dallas were bad (even an AM station had better ratings) and they were fired.
Upon returning to New Orleans, they had some success but they started having creative differences. I think it bothered Walton that Johnson carried the show. The duo broke up in the mid 90's and continued with different partners for a couple of years. They say that they have been working continuously as a duo for over 30 years, which is a lie.
Some of the worst radio ever broadcast was from the duo of humorless Walton and Rick Rumble. Eventually they were canned from a couple of stations and Walton had to do fill-in work on an AM station to try to keep his house, per a story in the Times Picayune. The duo of W&J got back together eventually and the result is the show you hear today. They've never had major market success and it really bothers them.
I think that the tragic death of Walton's son made him even more humorless and bitter.

Like most here I used to listen to the show regularly and enjoyed it. Once it turned into a political shitshow I stopped listening and haven't been back. If either one of them get a hangnail, they will talk about how it's Obama's fault for 4 hours and bring it back up every day for a week.
And I hate Obama
