Matilda is a fantastic beer and very affordable compared to the other GI barrel/wild beers.

Sofie is better as a value Sister and as a beer, IMO

I personally love Lolita and Juliet and view them as a treat when I'm willing to shell out the dollars for them.

But I'm done debating these beers.

You know I love my saisons, and I put Matilda over Sophie in my personal rankings.

Matilda, when it was bottle conditioned, was an Orval clone. Now not so much.....

I enjoy them both but I probably put sofie just a little ahead of Matilda. Been a little while since I had them back to back though

Their website that lists it with the other "Vintage Ales," which are commonly referred to as the Sisters, says you're wrong.

Only the wine-barrel aged sours are referred to as sisters. It was four, but now five, since they re-released Madame Rose. And some people consider Sofie as well, but I'm not sure if it has ever been released in the large bottle format like the others and it is only 20% wine barrel-aged.

Matilda is not a sister. Maybe an ugly step-sister at best.

See this interview with one of the goose island brewers.

Goose Island has been reeling brew geeks back into the fold with an innovative quartet of fruit-based, Belgian-style wild ales popularly recognized as the “Sisters.” The coveted set includes the Gillian, brewed with honey, white pepper, and strawberries (9.5% ABV); the Halia, infused with peaches and aged in wine barrels (7.5% ABV); the blackberry-laced Juliet (8% ABV); and the raspberry-infused Lolita (8.2%).

Also,

Madame Rose, one of the "sisters" in Goose Island Beer Co.'s sour line, is ready for her debut after spending nearly two years in wine barrels.

The beer is part of a barrel-aged line that includes Halia, Gillian, Sofie, Juliet and Lolita.

A few of us in the BR krewe are supposed to get together for a sister gang-bang soon.

I would have thought you'd be all about that Sophie.

I don't think I've ever had Matilda. Sofie is a fine beer though.

Acquistapace in Covington also has Matilda and Sophie.

Went looking for something else, then surprisingly found them. Matilda has always been one of my favorites. For this, I give thanks.

I just picked one up from Tchoup Rouses for $7.99. If she's a sister she must be the cheap whore of the bunch.

Drinks the same regardless of spelling. Get over yourself. You obviously knew what I was referring too.
