You seem to have your mind made up. I can't blame you because I feel the same way about Honky Tonk, Slack Jaw, I beat my wife, drink booze everyday, sleep with my sister, the south will raise again, I hate all but consider myself a christian, country music. But I do consider rap "real" music. Guys like Big KRIT, Lecrae, Killer Mike, etc. speak on social issues and are adverse to the message Big Media record labels push as the norm. I encourage all naysayers to checkout underground rap and not the mainstream garbage.
P.S. I like some country music.

eeehhhh. I recognize that it takes a little bit of effort to compose some of those beats, although it's not as difficult as actually playing an instrument. I also realize that SOME rappers have a true gift with words and how the way they string them together.
So yeah I suppose it's music, but I think they are by far the least talented, overall, out of all the genres. Most (probably upwards of 95%) don't play any sort of instrument, nor do any type of "singing", basically just talk in rhythm over a computer generated beat. Big deal.
