- interstellar
- Primer
- moon
- solaris

And I feel that this Danny Boyle film gets overlooked sometimes. If im remembering correctly, it wasn't very successful at the box office, in part because they were marketing it as a different kind of movie than what it actually was, but for you young bucks who haven't seen it, or if you just haven't heard of it, I highly recommend it. There are some powerful scenes in this flick.

Watch it on as big a screen as you can, and crank up the volume.

For those of you that have seen it, thoughts?

Loved the first 2/3rds of it. The last third was........well, bad. It looked like they ran out of money and just threw the thing together in the editing room. Overall I still give it credit for being a good movie.

That's been a pretty common grievance, and while it shifts in tone, it didn't ruin (for me) what was one of the more enjoyable scifi movies of the 2000's.

Yea, there were some great concepts and ideas in that movie. Acting was great. It had the best CGI in a low budget movie I've ever seen. A lot of good things happened in that movie.

Really, the first 2/3's is one of my favorite movies ever.
The soundtrack is just gorgeous.

I don't hate the ending. And I don't think it spoils the rest of the film.
But it definitely brings the movie down from one of the best sci fi movies I've ever seen to a very good sci fi movie.

Pretty much this for me as well. And that's basically what everybody else who has seen it says too.

The first (I'd say) 3/4 of the movie is pretty incredible film. It's just cool as hell and captivaating (and an awesome concept). But when it basically devolves into a shitty slasher flick, it loses a LOT of luster. It just felt lazy and rushed, and a bit incoherent. I'd still recommend it to people at times, but the end keeps it from even being "very good" for me. But it's still a solid sci-fi movie though.

I watched this movie last night.

I was curious as to how they slingshotted around Mercury without exposing the rear of the ship, thus burning it to smithereens.

The most ridiculous part is that Captain America survives exposure to -273 degrees celsius, then shortly afterwards is jumping into the coolant that previously was too cold to put his hand in for a moment.

If Pinbacker had used nefarious means to sabotage their mission that were more sophisticated than stabbing them, it would have been better IMO

Blowing the Icarus 1 and Icarus 2 apart for instance felt like it belonged in the movie....stabbing the asian lady in the back seemed out of place.

One of my favorites. The 3rd act is an utter betrayal, but it did not ruin the rest of the movie. Beautifully shot, outstanding score, great performances from the cast. Just a great script. Garland really excels at creating a little world on Icarus II. The Earth Room, the observation room, the oxygen garden. He and Boyle are a great team.

I'll post more when I'm off the road

2 of my favorite scenes ever are

SPOILERS

Kaneda's death and Capa's jump to the bomb.

agree about the last 1/3 of the movie dragging things down....but damn, that soundtrack is so powerful, it almost makes you forgive everything.

It's great.

3rd act doesn't bother me as much as it bothers others.

What did you think of the Mercury scene? For me it's the most memorable of the entire film.
