Appreciate your position and agree with it except for the parental portion I mentioned
For the longest time in healthcare we were restricted from sharing information with same-sex partners. No longer the case. But that sucked bigtime too. It was a regulation I never abided by. Others did though, and on rare occasions, still do.

How is it different?
Because people aren't being refused service and signs aren't in front of establishments saying "No figs allowed". Police officers aren't arresting them for sitting in restaurants or spraying them down with water hoses in the streets. Their leaders aren't being murdered while their killers get off in court.
Do I need to continue? It's nowhere near the same issue as blacks faced. They can't get a marriage license. That's it.
It's insulting to the black community and it's leaders to compare the two.

Your argument is that the relative severity of the injustices doesn't allow me to draw comparisons, but that's not the case. Mississippi has a history of being on the wrong side of history on these issues. The federal government can step in when the majority oppresses a minority.

Technically, businesses in Mississippi can deny service to homosexuals based on religious views. The Governor signed that bill earlier this year.
